Background
2 – 4¼“ squares, cut on diagonal
1 – 7½” square
4 – 3½” squares
Yellow
1 – 4¾” Square
4 – 4” squares
Instructions
Central square in a square
- Take the Yellow 4¾” Square
- Add the cut triangles on to the opposite sides of the square, press toward the background
- Add the other 2 sides, press toward the background
- Trim to 6 ½”
Flying Geese
- Draw diagonal line on the back of the yellow 3½” squares
- Draw a line ¼” away from the diagonal line on each side
- Take the 7½” square, place face up
- Put one face down yellow square in opposite corners so they create continuous lines. The squares will overlap
- Sew on the two outer lines
- Cut on the central line.
- Press toward the yellow squares, place face up in front of you
- Place another yellow square face down from the background corner to the valley between the two already sewn triangles
- Sew on the two outer lines
- Cut on the center line
- Press toward yellow triangle.
- You will now have a finished flying goose, trim to 3½” x 6½”
Add a background 3½” square to each end of 2 flying geese – press toward the square
Add 2 geese to either side of Square in a Square – press open for flatter block
Sew the 3 rows together – press open for flatter block. If points are a little off, sometimes if you press to one side or the other you can hide it.
Trim to 12½”
