Inside pieced border

Draw a diagonal line on all the 1.5” squares and the larger focus squares.

Sew the narrow end of a focus rectangle to the narrow end of a background rectangle.

Put ½ of the rectangle pairs with the background on the right and half with it on the left. The other half of the pairs go the opposite direction – background on the left. This will give you sections with the colors on the opposite sides. (reverse color scheme) You need this so they line up with the center of the quilt. (See the last picture to see what I mean if this isn’t clear)

Put the opposite color squares on the ends of the pairs with the diagonals angled to the center.

Sew ON THE LINE.

Press the corner piece out.

Trim off the excess material from the squares. I usually sew ½” away in this situation in order to have an extra HST but these triangles are so small that I just cut them off and tossed them in my confetti jar.

Assemble the border sides. Pay attention to where it meets the blocks so the focus triangles are on opposite sides.

On larger squares sew 1/4” away from both sides of the drawn line to make HST’s. Cut apart, press, trim to 1.5” square. These will be the corners. Double check all your orientations for the border pieces.

Sew on 2 borders on opposite sides of the quilt.
Sew the corners onto each end of the remaining 2 border strips.
Sew the last 2 border sides onto the quilt.
Inner border is done. 😀
