4 – 3½” x 6 ½” rectangles of background material
In this case, due to the different point colors, we will be using the rectangle method for our flying geese. You could choose instead to do them as HST’s or whatever your preferred method for making flying geese. The final size for the goose will be 3½” x 6½” in prep for assembling into the block.
**** You will want to make sure the light and medium corners are in the same place on each goose and that you have them oriented properly. Double check that you have sewn them on correctly prior to cutting off the bonus HST by folding back the fabric to confirm its orientation.
1. Draw a diagonal line on the back of all 4 yellow blocks.
2. Align the square right sides together on the blue rectangle with the diagonal ending approximately in the center of the rectangle.
3. Sew on the line, trim off corner ¼” away from the sewn line.
a. If you would like, you can sew ½” away from your sewn line. Then cut between the 2 sewn lines. You will now have an extra HST for your stash.
4. Press the triangle to “rebuild” the rectangle.
5. Add the other yellow square in the opposite corner and repeat the process.
6. Trim to 3½” x 6½”
